It's a no-brainer - the papers and embellishments chosen for the page all match perfectly and can be easily put together to make some cards. I love having birthday and thank you cards on hand, and it's a lot cheaper to make them yourself. Sometimes I even wrap up a few cards for a last-minute gift. Plus, using up those scraps means less to put away at the end of a scrap session. Win/win!<br /><br />Here's a look at some recent layouts I did, followed by cards I made with the same supplies. On the last one, I got 6(!) cards done.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GNvMkyKLtLP3Bi-MaelwG5n0PhWZ19rk8Eslwm_m4jXNDoJx8N-OUPoBJi-KSflNjsNnoDhgORaUXA70vPZcS-ImAINh8csBvWPAKO06p6InhIlLTM2GIab-N0YCQDwrCMLJoVf7BLhI/s1600-h/008.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I rarely buy gifts for kids' parties any more, unless it's one of those, "Mom, I've got a party to go to tomorrow" kind of things. My kids friends know that I crochet so there is usually a special request. I found the pattern for <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flora-the-elephant">Flora The Elephant</a> on ravelry, whipped it up in a couple of days. The downside of making amigurumi - I have a blister on my thumb from working with such a tight crochet.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWhtmUGAjUmr9CIrZ78pJU2rVJJjI_WUiTsEMyAnMpbY_jfa2kKnshXJaEFVAt_AHGLd3j5d3bbf5SRKd1JIeItDjYJmo3nPlfPQp_jPGtxG6xLv1SCnqxU-bN-7WXcAd4dwoC_EiUGCsp/s1600-h/007.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWhtmUGAjUmr9CIrZ78pJU2rVJJjI_WUiTsEMyAnMpbY_jfa2kKnshXJaEFVAt_AHGLd3j5d3bbf5SRKd1JIeItDjYJmo3nPlfPQp_jPGtxG6xLv1SCnqxU-bN-7WXcAd4dwoC_EiUGCsp/s400/007.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436662670388320242" border="0" /></a>She's pretty cute, no?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550677176109136020.post-4176085903501211752010-02-10T08:35:00.001-08:002010-02-10T08:35:27.757-08:00Tips for scrapbooking on a budget<a href=http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35194-Reno-Arts-and-Crafts-Examiner~y2010m2d9-Tips-for-scrapbooking-on-a-budget>Tips for scrapbooking on a budget</a><br /><br />Posted using <a href="http://sharethis.com">ShareThis</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550677176109136020.post-3461103872571437012010-02-08T14:04:00.001-08:002010-02-08T14:04:17.535-08:00Kids' crafts 101: homemade play dough recipe<a href=http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35194-Reno-Arts-and-Crafts-Examiner~y2010m2d8-Kids-crafts-101-homemade-play-dough-recipe>Kids' crafts 101: homemade play dough recipe</a><br /><br />Posted using <a href="http://sharethis.com">ShareThis</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550677176109136020.post-90405790386784224642010-02-06T13:50:00.001-08:002010-02-06T13:50:41.111-08:00Reno scrapbook store gives back in a big way<a href=http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35194-Reno-Arts-and-Crafts-Examiner~y2010m2d6-Reno-scrapbook-store-gives-back-in-a-big-way>Reno scrapbook store gives back in a big way</a><br /><br />Posted using <a href="http://sharethis.com">ShareThis</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550677176109136020.post-18845689543357534782010-02-05T16:29:00.001-08:002010-02-05T16:29:58.508-08:00Reno Craft Shows: Is your organization hosting a craft fair?<a href=http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35194-Reno-Arts-and-Crafts-Examiner~y2010m2d5-Reno-Craft-Shows-Is-your-organization-hosting-a-craft-fair>Reno Craft Shows: Is your organization hosting a craft fair?</a><br /><br />Posted using <a href="http://sharethis.com">ShareThis</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550677176109136020.post-68330683282170953702010-02-05T09:52:00.000-08:002010-02-05T14:55:41.349-08:00Melted Crayon Wax Technique<span style="font-size:100%;">I love using melted crayon wax in my projects - it's colorful, adds texture, and is cheap! The bargain brand crayons work just fine, I think I paid about $2.00 for a box of 64. Think about how much 64 bottles of paint or 64 stamp pads would be!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Step 1: Melt The Wax</span><br /><br />Chose the crayon you want to use, peel off the paper, and break into small pieces. I use a mini muffin tin lined with foil to hold the wax, for easy clean up. You could also just shape some foil into a little cup.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBZJrcHXgF_tlD77xQxNeQzo4pzYthDsXZPbbac_SwsyKbRDLRdtVIytxyjFypcryj1q-Qzd-NvPG3HyI0CLBuu3J3Xe8RwQTpStPo1HTQbXjIspAB2WV6TEqut-1rLHeSiHW7-ATYvxB/s1600-h/tutorial+001.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 272px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBZJrcHXgF_tlD77xQxNeQzo4pzYthDsXZPbbac_SwsyKbRDLRdtVIytxyjFypcryj1q-Qzd-NvPG3HyI0CLBuu3J3Xe8RwQTpStPo1HTQbXjIspAB2WV6TEqut-1rLHeSiHW7-ATYvxB/s400/tutorial+001.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434887708494794898" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">Use a heat gun to melt the wax. Heat until liquid, but not to the point of smoking. You want to do this in a well ventilated area and avoid breathing in the fumes. You can also melt the wax in a warm (250 degrees) oven, but that takes a bit longer.<br /></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifJFULVoPAB7Tq83CstQnnUe889nUQkQiX061DIb_4LL82QpJEPejVWz0c6BzCRxum7XdEVgPaWZ_8xGzq6fkl_EEZ8XAYNp2xBy7VVyNfbKZ6I88jzm9YkyutF_o7VSxGrhFa0BNqZ1gh/s1600-h/tutorial+003.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifJFULVoPAB7Tq83CstQnnUe889nUQkQiX061DIb_4LL82QpJEPejVWz0c6BzCRxum7XdEVgPaWZ_8xGzq6fkl_EEZ8XAYNp2xBy7VVyNfbKZ6I88jzm9YkyutF_o7VSxGrhFa0BNqZ1gh/s400/tutorial+003.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434887520277350722" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-size:100%;">The wax doesn't stay liquid very long.
